The status for the Windows Updates were recorded as successful. Earlier yesterday afternoon, I downloaded 3 optional updates through Windows Update (I am running Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion g series laptop). I am currently using a public WiFi access point offered by the Caldwell, Idaho Chamber of Commerce and I have been using and extensively for the past 10 continuous hours. Though it has an option to "opt out" and ignore the outbound activity, clicking this option does not keep Norton from prompting me every second to run the Power Erasure due to high outbound activity. Nevertheless, Norton keeps prompting me with the same security request popup over and over and over again. The first time it happened, I ran the Power Eraser and then restarted my laptop as requested. The notification asks if I want to run Norton Power Eraser. Early this morning, a popup notification from Norton Security (my antivirus program) advised me of a Security Request due to a large amount of suspicious outbound activity detected.
